Its been many months now since all the hype has died down with Marina Marco on the south side of Korcula. Has it crashed and burned so quietly or is it still plodding along at a slow pace? Noticed Croatiansun are no longer advertising it, which is an about turn from the mass media it was receiving six months ago...... can anyone shed any light on what was to be the first of its kind in Croatia? I presume no one lost loads of $$ as we surely would have heard something about it! trag

I have a feeling that the promotr has pulled back until there is a clarification on the law whether foreigners will be able to purchase the property on an island. Very strange mentality! How does the government expect to get the tourist business improved and attract wealthy tourists???

The proposed 5 star resort and marina development on Korcula is STILL with the ministry of planning according to the 2 estate agents marketing this proposed development.
In October 2004 investors with reservation deposits on phase 1 apartments were given notification by the agents of a severe delay expectations before the final go/no go will be given by the planning ministry. At this time investors were given the option to pull out with reservation deposits fully refunded. The investors that chose to stay are still waiting news.
This is still the case.
I have read some posts on this subject but not much is being said, some rumor and opinion but not much actual news.

repost from another board...
----- More detail on Marco Marina 5 star Intercontinental Resort status :
Oct 2004 Option given to investors to have deposit return. All above board made clear by the estate agents.
Nov 2004 Developers met with planning officials to go through reworks plans. Although the statement was the rework was required to bring the main hotel complex building in line with 5 star requirements, i doubt this as i believe this would not have been enforced by the ministry of planning. correct me if i am wrong.
I agree that the main issue must be the new laws surround developments within 75m of the coast. I also heard the other main issue was due to the plan to connect the small island to the main island via a walkway/marina boardwalk. This contravened previous law perhaps.
I would be interested to hear of other peoples dealings with this proposed development.
