Hi there, I am a young veterinarian based in Cambridge, and foolishly (?!) I bought a stare kuce (old stone house) near Vodnjan/Pula in Istria about a year and a half ago. I have taken time out from work now (a) to come and learn Croatian and (b) to try and redevelop this wreck of a property! If you are also based out here (either in May-mid june or in July) and renovating a house - I would be delighted to hear from you. Moral support and an exchange of ideas would be much appreciated ! Sve najbolje Paul

It's been empty for a year and a half?! Have you been keeping an eye on it? It's probably full of squatters.
If you don't mind, how much did you pay for it back then? How much more would it be now?
Friends back home say they are noticing house prices go up more and more but don't think they will earn enough to buy houses. (They're all trying to leave the country anyway)
I'm sure there are many local men who will help renovate (for money, obviously)

Hi Paul We too bought a house in Istria and although we haven't needed to renovate it's been really hard work getting anything done remotely. However - major breakthrough! We have met an English builder out there who is fantastic! Email me and I'll give you his details - we are out there end May if we can help
