Does anybody know how to get power of attorney for the purchase of the house from a Brit living in Australia for a purchase of the house in Croatia?
Is this just a normal "Power of attorney" that states the nominated person can sign the contract in their behalf in Croatia and then getting this document apostilled?
And does anyone know where to apostille the document in Australia (the buyers live in Great Barrier Reef, Qld).
Many thanks

A lawyer from the local area or the equivalent of a citizens advice bureau should be able to point one in the right direction. It will quite likely have to be translated into Croatian of course, by an official translator.

find out if australia are in the "notary system". (I think not). If it is not look on the australian govt's website, probably their equivalent of the foreign office for "legalisation" and gain an apostile. Once the doc gets back to Croatia it will have to be translated as Mirabelle says
You told us before you worked with quality Croatian estate agents. presumably this is for a deal you are currently doing, so can't they guide you through this?

Hi Carol,
many thanks on your reply.
The agency I am dealing with has never dealt with British purchasers who are living in Australia and who are buying by distance.
In a meantime I did find Australian document legalisation service on the web and they do apostille the documents.
Many thanks again.
