There is almost no broadband in Croatia. There is some in Zagreb but is very expensive.

There are a couple of sizeable internet cafes in Dubrovnik and local business with fast links - ISDN rather than broadband i think. Anyway, it does suggest there is a facilty other than dial-up available

Without broadband you would need to get either ISDN2 or a leased circuit (cost depends on size of pipe and distance from nearest point of presence). ISDN can work out expensive if you use it a lot and leased circuits are only a practical solution if you are in a large town. Best bet is to get in contact with Croatia Telecom (HT) www.htnet.hr from memory.

Hi, This is taken from Carnets ( www.carnet.hr ) web site. I know broadband-ADSL is available in Pula as a friend of mine as it there. Hope this is of some help. David Within Croatia, CARNet network connects all the major Croatian cities, at several levels of different technologies and access speeds. The CARNet backbone connects all the major university centres (Dubrovnik, Osijek, Pula, Rijeka, Split, Zadar, Zagreb) by high-speed links (155 Mbps, with ATM broadband technology), whereas it links other minor centres by standard modem connections via leased lines (most often speeds of 2 Mbps are used). The infrastructure in Zagreb itself is especially advanced, which connects major faculties and scientifica institutions by speeds of up to 622 Mbps.

Alane Do u know about Croats in the UK message board on this site? There were lot of informations about broadband ;)discusion was started by MS 21/-03 and it is on the second page of general message board. There is also list of townS where broadband is avaliable,as well as detailed prices, its a good message board. I often send small packages to Zagreb (from London). It takes about 4-6 working days, a bit less for letters or post cards. When I reicive packages from Croatia, its mostly after 7 working days I must say that Croatian mail service (HP) is rather expencive for Cro standards, and yes, mail does get lost, but there is special (more expencive) service that tracks mail all way through, called PREPORUCENA POSILJKA so mail has to be handed in, and signed for. That service include insurance if gets lost. hope that helps sanja
