Does anyone know of a company in Croatia that spees in wood preservation, similar to Rentokil, ideally in southern Dalmatia.
Our house has wooden beams and floorboards that need treatment for woodworm. I'd prefer to preserve the old wood, where possible, rather than replace it. I would be grateful for any advice.
Thanks in advance.

at least in the Trogir region we were not able to find anything, so we brought the chemicals from Germany.
Sorry...

In Croatia there is no habit for wood preservation. Everybody would replace wooden floors with concrete ones.. People laughed at me when I came up with a similar idea, nobody ever heard of sanding old wooden floors.. I would agree with croanutic here.. there are no products for wood preservation in Croatia..

I cannot agree that nobody does it, it's just something that is not marketed all around.. I'll try to find the info next week in Split.

Thanks for your replies. I know concrete floors are generally preferred, but there must be some preservation being done, maybe of historic buildings.
Rahela, if you can get any info that would be great.
Thanks for your help, Dan

Hi Dan,
Sorry for sending you the reply later than promissed. Try to call Hrvatski restauratorski zavod (conservation office) in Split - phone number is +385 21 487 208. I called them, they are not doing this kind of things but they told me that people working in the shops that sell things for furniture, renovation, etc. might have more information. They will also give you basic information about wood preservation in general. So, I suggest you first to call the Zavod and to ask around, I'm sure you'll find somebody who will help you.

Thanks very much for your help. I've been doing some research and found that the Cuprinol range sold in the UK is sold in Croatia by ICI under the name Xyladecor, so there might be the treatments I need; I'll call the number you suggested to see if they know of this and a distributor.
Thanks again.
