Any good recommendations for a more detailed language guide/book for learning Croatian. Also where can someone catch a liveband playing at a club or bar?
Thanks

My favorite basic book for learning some croatian is actuallly a phrase book, Barron's TravelWise Croatian. I like its simple summary of grammar, its decent sized dictionary, etc, and the phrases are useful.
for more formal instruction, I have a textbook called "dobro dosli 1" from the school for foreign languages in zagreb (skola za strane jezike, Varsavska 14) and they may also offer some classes there. the book is not bad.

My boyfriend has got 'teach yourself Croatian' , by David Norris who has taught Croatian for years, and he's English. You can get it on it's own or with a CD- It's great, and all the difficult grammar bits are explained really well. We got it in the UK, but they sell it in Croatia as well, they had it in a bookshop in Dubrovnik so i'm sure you'll find it in Zagreb.
