croserb: besides...europeans think they are so wordly but i have seen different. they all claim to speak 4 languages but the reality is quite different. yes generally, europeans are smarter than your average americans. but we're not all average...nor should you be competing with average.
Plus, i could care less about what italians, french, germans think of americans. its like worrying about my neighbor trying to sleep with my wife when i know he is impotent. FYI: The State of California: 20% of the US GDP and Fifth largest economy in the world. Italy? hahahahaha California is bigger, richer, nicer, cleaner than italy. thats one of only 50 states in the US. Plus every demographic from across the GLOBE is represented in California. You cant even wrap your mind around the US. Come here and then talk your nonsense. I've been to germany, italy, france, england, bosnia, serbia, croatia, switzerland, slovenia...should i go on? so give me a break dude. Stick to London politics and ill stick to being a "dangerous american" to use your words.

I have been to many places but each has it good points and bad points. In most european countries it is fairly safe. That is one thing that Cal does not have in a lot of places it is dangerous. As far as beauty.... everyone is about the same. Now economics is a whole different matter. I have made the bulk of my money in cal, that is how I can live here so well. You are right about the richness of cal and surprising I thought it would be dirty there but it is not. It seems like a very clean place. The sea is nice there very pretty but very different to our sea. Actually next to dirty Italy everything looks clean.

Croam, There were no double standards in my post, i didnt say that Europe see's Americans as dangerous just because of Bush. I mentioned that Blair is Bush's lap dog and that my European friends see Americans as ignorant and dangerous and this is true. I live in the UK and even i worry about what the next move by the US is going to be.
Bush cannot be blamed alone for the US actions, he isnt intelligent enough to order a burger let alone commence any military actions, he has a whole team around him who are doing all this. I have been to the US very recently on business along with some Europeans and Canadians and if i am honest Croam the Canadians held far more contempt for Americans than the Europeans.
During my stay for a week, i could not got a single TV channel in the hotel that showed any non-US news, this is what worries me and worries the rest of the world. The only non-US news was Iraq and that always had a patriotic spin to it. On the whole i found the people to be very friendly, my main worry is that the majority of these people dont know what their country is doing around the world in their name and think that what they are doing is good.
Just like the British government may support the Serbian one and kingdom but the people dont know that and wont care anyway.
For me personally despite what you say about Italy, i would much rather go there than California, it is not about wealth or cultural diversity. Italy has a whole unique culture of its own and an unrivalled history and this is something that California cannot buy or artificially create.

don't join them islander, it's scary and not worth it. Instead embrace all cultures, learn form them, when you've experienced them you can even critique them (but be careful to always add : In my experience, otherwise the bigots will attack you for being a hater of other cultures and such). I think the collective term is Sabor, or Dail, or Parliament (joke), it's actually HDZ

Elaine... my first week in Edinburgh I went to the pub and ordered a vodka (straight).
Came an ugly Scotsman (they are not the most beautiful, your men), took my glass and emptied it on the floor. He ordered a whisky and let me drink it and asked if I liked it...
"no..." I said
So he ordered another one and asked again...
"still no..." I replied
And again, he ordered another one...
"mmm, it is getting better" I said
He told me to return the next evening, so I did and the process repeated itself. Ever since, I drunk whisky...
The only failure he made was not to spell it out for me how to write it... sorry for my mistake.
[but then, the Irish stuff is still much better then the overseas poison...]

True, Foka, our men could not, with the best will in the world, be described as the most beautiful in the world, but, as you found out in that pub, they have hearts of gold! You must return to Scotland if you want 'to see their likes again'!!

Yeah, the have a golden heart... at least for those who are not english ofcourse. However, I do not see many scots overhere in ZG. I can see why many Croats and Scots would get along, you can sit and talk about how much you hate the English.
