You do not have shares in it do you Angelo I agree the food was great, even my elderly mother enjoyed it and it made a change from hotel food. They speak good English and understand that there is a need for large quantities of beer ;D

Why do you need variety in Croatia - you can't improve on perfection! ;D Meat, fish, rice....this is all a Dalmatian needs. Why do you think people in Dalmatia are usually so youthful and healthy looking and handsome? Because of the food we eat? Why do you think English people are so ugly and unhealthy? Shepherd's pie, cornish pasties etc....they are all "rat coffins". Your English curries are garbage. I can't find a decent piece of meat, decent fish to make brodet, decent fruit or vegetables. Half the country eats fish and chips , bangers and mash and curry. Ajme!

To Carla,
I have a cookbook called Croatian Cuisine by Alojeicjo & Ruzica Kapetanovic printed by Associated Publishers, 1015 Howard Ave., San Mateo, California 94401 USA copyright 1978. I really don't know if you can find another book but try on Amazon.com or something like that. I've never cooked anything from it but it looks very good. The books boosts 450 recipes. The one thing I always felt about my grandmother's cooking is she always used the finest and the freshest ingredients.

There is also a good cookbook in English called "The Best of Croatian Cooking". It is excellent. I think you can find it at Amazon.

Da Man,
Have you ever watched Rick Steins cookery programmes? Please watch it before you make any further rude comments re English food.
It gives you a great insight of how some other people live accross UK and alternatives to your "microwave meals".

I just wanna say that since all the imigrants from central and southern europe came to australia, especially since WWII, we have been spoiled with the best of all the european quisine. I was in croatia in 99 and the food was great both inland and on the coast. I'm not taking sides, but I'm sure as hell glad for our government's policy of emmigration in the 50's otherwise we'd still be eating bangers and mash and baked beans and other boring food from the first lot of european colonisers.

thanks Ruza - I have just ordered the best of croatian cooking cookbook on amazon. yum!! ;D The BEST of Croatian food. Phew. Kebab-chi-chi. Boiled beef and carrots. Fair to good barbies......Veggie soups and juha...never bad. Grilled fish......Mmmh. How many pages does this book have I wonder? I eat it...It's okay. The choices in the super/hypermarkets is incredibly limited. And it's EXPENSIVE. Foods food innit. I eat it, and I'm still alive but....I dream of Heinz 57 varieties...and curries...Beautiful currries...I am repeating myself I know. Sorry. My taste buds have gone dormant here. Seriously. I am not joking.
