Sat in front of the TV with a crate of cheap beer... what a great saturday afternoon!! I was in London, yet when I mentioned to my missus (in Zagreb) if she will be watching it she said "What's Live8?"
According to her it wasn't big news over there...

more to the point, the Bijela Dugme ( yugoslavias greatest band)reunion concert was far more important and relevant for the people here and in all of yugoslavia. Who wants to see aging rockers try and squeeze a few more dollars out of there career on the pretence of raising money for charity ? Trust me, the bands involved will get much more out of that event than the people of Africa ! At least Bijela Dugme didn't hide the fact that they were completely selling out so they could make some millions one last time.

I saw the photos of the Bijelo Dugme gig - the missus went with a lorry load of friends - that place was packed!!
They also recently saw Hladno Pivo in Karlovac - that was a massive event as well. They do like to pack 'em in and put on a show over there.

I cannot comprehend your cynical attitude, the likes of Paul McCartney, Madonna, u2 (who also had their own gig later in the day in Vienna) and even Robbie Williams, hardly need the publicity. Much of African poverty is one of the true evils in today’s world, the Uk, Us and other g8 countries must shoulder some responsibility and now it is time for the leaders to change things for the better. Hopefully they will invade Zimbabwe whilst they’re at it.

Of course they need the puplicity, celebraties always do. Most of that money wil go into the pockets of administrators and greedy oppertunists who are contracted for big money to supply goods and services. Perhaps you might want to look into that for yourself.

Yes...I saw the concert in Zagreb, channel flicking...It looked okay, I was wondering if there was a connection. But there was this big thing going on elsewhere, with THE GREATS of music doing, some of them maybe, their last bits, with the connection of the G8 and saving the world...(again). Will it work? Probably it wont. But some of the music was monumental. And do they need the money? Show me a house on this planet, or a mud hut, that hasn't got at least one Floyd album, tape, cd, reel to reel in it. Floyd are bloody loaded, possibly with many billions. They didn't do singles. They did long pieces of music that is still in everyone's head. Kids not yet born were singing along. My kids GOT IT in the womb (not my womb, I should mention).Today and tomorrow another ten million CD's will sell. As if they need the dosh. I don't care. I wanna see Floyd, live, playing for one last time on the tip of my home world in Croatia. Will it happen? I could also stand Jean Michel Jarre on the bill, so long as he brings his light show. It would be a 'good time to die' Who's coming....EMIZZZZZ?
