I need some help. We want to set up a new website and I don't want to use our existing ISP for the web hosting because we've run into problems with being blacklisted because some of their other clients are spammers. I looked on the net and I didn't know where to start. Its only a simple website, between 4 and 10 pages of mostly static data and some email addresses. Does anyone have any recommendations?

On the subject of web sites, there are enough people here that have sites related to Croatia that if we got together, I am certain we could top rate on Google for every possible term relating to Croatia. The only problem I see is that many of you are into real estate and only 1 can be top.

thanks all for the suggestions. Its a mine field when you don't know much about it. We paid our last developer a fortune to build something that I am very unhappy with and i can't afford the same mistake again, so i am about to learn web design (even though i do not have an artistic bone in my body!).
The idea of pooling resources for google optimisation is a good one and I can think of a way around the 4 or 5 estate agents problems... but that will be something for a day when life is easier and people's priorities are back on building their businesses and away from clinging onto their homes. So not this year.

I've got 2 sites hosted at www.shopcentar.hr and I've found them to be very good and extremely helpful when it comes to asking for help in English or Croatian. Carol, If you want to make a site yourself and need to update it every now and then, I suggest you take a look at wordpress.org/ . Mostly people use it to create blogs, but increasingly it's being used to make whole websites. Best thing is it's free and there are heaps of forums where you can ask for help.

Google truly loves wordpress blogs. I can get new pages into the Google index is 5 - 10 mins. I would suggest that you do purchase a domain name and a hosting package, then have wordpress installed onto your server. Personally, I would still have a web site created and use the blog as a news section. From the blog, link back to main sites pages that make you money.
