Erdanslemaison has a favourite Roma lady (PC or wot!) who invited us to her daughter's wedding last Saturday .... if I would be the official wedding photographer .... for free. We agreed, we reckoned it would be something of an experience. Was it ever! Roma don't worry too much about registrars etc, they just marry themselves in their own way through agreements made between the respective families. All I can say is that weddings are "full on" affairs... an attack on your senses even. Some low res pics are posted pf501.com/roma/ - Check out the formal attire, the pic here is of the parents. BTW, the bride is 15.

Good oictures! What kind of camera do you have, Ribaric?
As to the content, you seem to have captured the essence of the day!
There is a series in the UK called "Big, Fat Gypsy Weddings" and some of the themes are similar... teenage brides, "tarty" clothes, huge family affairs but the British and Irish Gypsies seem to go to the other extreme and spend incredible amounts of money.

It was 37C and probably hotter in that tent. The music was that diddly diddly stuff so loved by the Roma and each song had a different singer (loose term in this context). I'm told the songs are always about death and mothers.
Camera is a Canon EOS 7D with a not-very-good 18-135 (that'll be a 28-205 in real money) . I wanted a full frame 5D Mk II or Mk III or Nikon but at three grand and up ... toooo expensive.

That's a funny story, about death and mothers. I've never heard of that before, but my knowledge of gypsy lore is very limited.
Nice pics, but I expected a gypsy wedding to be more extravagant. As for 5D... i tata bi, sine. Its price can only be justified if you make a living of it.
