Mornin' all, 1. Looking in to see if the football tipsters were sharpening their pencils? 2. I noticed (to my surprise) nobody's mentioned the campaign started by the current govt last week (well, almost a fortnight ago now) to expose the country's worst taxpayers - individuals, entrepreneurs and companies. As far as I have it, it is causing huge ructions in Cro. That, of course, is what the govt says - perhaps others will have another line. Anyway, here's what we did this week, not sure how much else is out there in English. (there was a piece in Cro Times, but from what I could see it contained several inaccuracies.) blogs.ft.com/beyond-brics/2012/08/09/croatias-tax-name-and-shame/I know some in here have tried to work as entrepreneurs in CRO-land, so I hope the piece makes your arguments, as I've seen in here. chrs, kesterj ps PRBRK - please, we don't have to include Rangers this year, do we? 2-2 versus a fishing village located somewhere in the Outer Hebrides yesterday.

I know two individuals on the "list of shame", one claims to not owe a lipa despite 15,000HRK being shown as a tax debt, the other appears to have a Nat Ins debt of 20,000HRK but has gathered all her (Croatian version of) P60s since 2002 when she started work and all show nothing to be outstanding. On this small piece of evidence, maybe the list says more about the efficiency of the record keeping than it does about alleged debtors.
It's strange that neither Coning nor Meteor Grupa appear on the list, neither have which have paid their employees for several months. Perhaps their famous owners got a heads up on the list being published and "fixed" it.
Not much credence on the whole exercise it seems.

What is also wrong that some prominent Croats, politicians are not on the list, but owe a lot of tax.
