Hi all,
I am posting on behalf of a friend of mine who would like a native English speaker to practice English with his 5-year-old son three times a week from 3:30 to 5:30 (in Zagreb).
At this age, formal language instruction is not a priority, but ideally you have some experience working with children and a background in English, writing, linguistics, or some related field.
Since he already has a nanny, your role would basically be to practice English with him through games, activities, walks, etc.
The position is paid and starts immediately.
If interested, please get in touch and tell me a bit about yourself.
Thanks!

Her technique is via play, one of the best stealthy ways for a child to learn a language.

Hello cornellj,
I have just come across your posting and was wondering if your friend had managed to find a tutor for his son. I am an American living in Zagreb for three years so I speak some basic Croatian if it is needed. I received my Bachelors in English Literature and Creative Writing and have been working as a freelance editor for two years, primarily on texts that have been translated from Croatian. As a freelancer, I have a great deal of flexibility in my schedule and would have no problem working within your friend's time-frame. Please feel free to contact me if the opening is still available.
Thanks,
Alexander

Hello everyone, I have a similar inquiry to the previous one. Namely, I would also like a native English speaker to practice English with a 2.5 years old girl. This could be a teacher or a parent and a child who would play with us. The little girl understands English pretty well and is also able to speak some. If interested, please get in touch, tell us a little about yourself and also let us know about the price. Thanks!

You should say where in Croatia you wish this to happen. If in Zagreb, there's a few groups of expat parents that have get togethers and probably through them you'd find someone. I've posted links to those groups in the past, so they are on this site somewhere, or you could just google it.

Hello, I just arrived in Zagreb a week ago and have been trained in the TEFL learning method for English. I have also been trained in young learners and would be interested in working with this family. I can email my CV and give some background information. I will see if I can contact you, and also, my email is rrtomczak@gmail.com if the family would like to contact me that way.
Thank you so much, Rebecca

I am university educated in Psychology (which included studying child development and language acquisition) and have previous experience of working with children. My husband and I are currently renovating our property and developing his business, we are expecting our first child in April. I would be very interested in discussing this post further, as I am keen to develop language skills with a family. My email address is eve3638@hotmail.co.uk if you'd like to contact me to discuss further. Many thanks, Eve

Contact the International woman's club of Zagreb to get exact details. There are also English speaking kindergartens dotted around Zagreb, but not cheap. If all else fails get max TV with Disney channel and play the English Micky Mouse Club House all day and your kid will get an American accent.

She is now learning about fending for herself in the big bad world, with separate room, fridge shelf, toy cupboard, clothing choices, savings account and maybe in the not to distant future a mortgage? Her English is perfect. She fully understands child psychology, and has mum and dad wrapped around her little finger.

She's starting the English program in the kindergarden beginning from this Sep. These would be just some extra lessons over the weekends and probably during the summer when there's no such program in her kindergarden... And thx for the tip about the TV program

Hello again, I'm still looking for someone to practice English with my little toddler. I would just like to add that we are looking for someone living in Zagreb area, who's able to work on a more long-term basis, so that a child gets the opportunity to get used to a person. A parent-and-child combination is also welcome. Anyone wishing to contact me, may do so at: rkk11411@yahoo.com Thanks very much!
