Bok Anna, It seems some automated gizmo somewhere has got it's claws into the forum. Maybe some kind of www.captcha.net/ is needed to sort the humans from the robots?

Gotcha. Make sure that captcha is the one that can make sure that none bot shall pass, without making the humans cry. .

Indeed! Sorry about all the bots of late...
Good suggestions - I will investigate and see what's possible.

If you do find a way to do it, Anna, please could you make it only apply to the process of registering a new account? If it is needed for every time I log in or post, I'll give up because I seem incapable of working out what half of them say!

Okay, so...not something I wasn't particularly aware of but it seems that there already is a Captcha test for when new members sign up. (You can see it if you're not logged into the forum - click on the "Register" link at the top of the screen.) I was sure that I've seen a more modern (and more difficult?) version of it on some ProBoards forums, but I can't see where I switch to using that here. (Don't worry Carol, I wouldn't want to use the Captcha test for members.) Incidentally (and maybe this might offer some respite from bots), ProBoards keep mentioning that this forum can upgrade to using Version 5 - you can see what that's like on their support forum at support.proboards.com/. I personally don't have much opinion about this either way - although perhaps there's assorted behind-the-scenes stuff that might be more customisable...does anyone else have any thoughts on whether they like to see V5 being used here?

I don't think capcha will work, because I am pretty sure that actual humans are making the spam posts. Let's face it, even in 2013 humans can be cheaper and more effective than robots. Maybe a general knowledge of Croatia test should be passed before posting
