This Brussels EU law would in affect help Croatian Olive growers, just not restaurant owners scamming people. If it's such a problem then a law to stop it is only fair. Now, the EU parliament just need to pass a few laws on themselves, control spending, cut the waste, stop fat cat salaries and money laundering etc. Not much really... chock chock!

What an utterly ridiculous law !! I can't believe that this was allowed to pass. Will they next designate that vinegar, salt, pepper, mayonnaise and ketchup are also served in the original supermarket containers ? This is going to make upmarket restaurants look decidedly cheap and tacky. I honestly don't see how they get to take away peoples freedom of choice like this.
Next they'll be telling us that beer, wine and spirits can only be served in their original sealed bottles and not in glasses.
I can't see Croatia enforcing this one, or maybe it will just be a little extra income for the inspectors to turn a blind eye.

If we enforce these regulations with the same vim and vigour as do the French..... then nothing will happen short of the odd inspector making a name for themselves at the expense of one or two hapless restauranteurs. Ignore it, 99% of the population will.

But I get this one, as olive oil is quite a different thing in the world of condiments and sauces, while salt and paper are pretty standard. The same could be said about ketchup, if they say you'll get Heinz Tomato Ketchup, then it better be a bottle of Heinz Tomato Ketchup, not some cheap replacement. While I don't drown my salad is oil, I sure wouldn't want to be putting some cheap cooking oil on it, but olive oil. Anyway, who really knows these days what tricks of the trade restaurants and food suppliers cook up, just another law, another con while we sit thinking we're eating pure beef (when it's a horse).
