Can anyone give me a website, link or any other information on where I could find the government (or official) appraised value on a property in Croatia. Thanks.

I also need the website or link that gives the official information on the house. In particular, the listed owners names. Thanks.

Thanks January I didn't think so either until I read this article. www.croatiaweek.com/government-shelves-new-property-tax-bill/ The government shelved a proposed property tax, based on 70% of the properties "Appraised" value. It suggested to me that the government must have some type of appraisal system, similar to the one here in the states. They use it to access different tax rates on different houses over here. Thanks for the info again.

Thanks again January. I can see how they might come up with the scheme and then shelve it as unworkable. I'm hoping that the "unworkable system" was trying to tax the houses, but that they do have some system where they appraise houses. After all don't you already have taxes on houses in Croatia? If so, what are the tax rates for different houses based upon?

There are people who do appraisals on behalf of the banks. They are used to estimate how much a property can be mortgaged. I had it done a couple of months ago, and it cost me 2000 Kuna, and I got a nice official-looking document with pictures and stamps. Not official at all - of course, but the best you can do and the only thing the banks have to go by.
