I just checked the UK foreign exchange service to see if it is worth changing pounds into kuna before going to Croatia. Its is so not! The best rate you can get in the Uk today is 9.35 and the over the counter rate from the first Croatian bank I checked was 9.405600. Typically, if you go to the bureau de change shops that are everywhere on the coast, then you can do much better than the rate you will get from the Croatian banks. Here are the links (i just picked the bank that I know has a branch at Split airport):- www.splitskabanka.hr/Tecajna-lista/Tecajna-listawww.money.co.uk/travel-money/croatian-kuna-exchange-rate.htmI wouldn't change my money at a hotel lobby though (unless I really wanted to get ripped off!). Its really easy you just go into the bank or up to the booth with your cash and your passport. The other advantage is that you can take all your money out in sterling and just change it as you go along. So, you don't have to convert back any unused kunas at the end.

Plus if you want to change say like £1000, then go to the little exchange shops (shop around) and they will do a better rate then they have advertised. Pounds are not that common in HR as say Euro, so they want them. Like Carol said, avoid hotels and bank exchange if you can.
