The problem is not that croatians dont have job oppurtunities in Croatia because WE DO!! but people dont want to do the work....if you want to get payed you have to get off ur butts and get away from all those cafes in the center of the city and start working for you and maybe your family and for the sake of Croatias economical standings. Croatians need to start acting and doing if they want to join the rest of europe and the rest of the world! WE need to start becoming an independant economical country with tourists and attractions and lots of new job oppurtunities for young people!!!Not only are people not working but they are complaining about the cost of food and necessities....i mean the food is organic and not expensive...you have to look at it this way....water,hydro,electricity and other things are what is expensive not the food....if people in croatia took the time to see what they have then they would be gratefull..

Croatians are still not used to the capitalist style economy, where you could be sacked from your job, where you have to pay market price for gas, electric power etc.

Croatia,dont get me wrong, is a beautiful place. I love croatia! but speaking truthfully about it is what i like best....i realize that Croatia has went through alot the past 13-15 years, wars,deaths etc.but that was the past...if we ever want to make the future a better place for you for your kids and the next few generations we have to start being apart of what the world is. If we want to be looked at as a whole country that works that has tourist then we need to start becoming aware of all the changes we will need to go throught to get into the E.U....if we are not familiar with this new econimical soceity we need to start getting familiar with it..

Dear Daria, politics and economy on global level are "live beeings". If you decided to watch Croatia from static point such as "there was war, and now there isn't - so let's get along with everybody" you are in blind street. Same things which was defining our war, are now defining global politics. Same issues, just scaled in proportions. It will be great if we could convice ourselves that EU and USA are "statical points of good", and we only need to drop our burden infront of thier doors - to become members of "heaven". Unfortunately, this is far from true. |

this hole debat seems funny to me.. the europians dont even want you in the EU only the politicians do.. like they want turkey to join aswell .. most europians dont want you. When you join you'll just cost us alot of money like those other east-europian countries that have joined.. You should be lucky and happy that the politicians want you. youll get alot of money out of it. Look at spain and greece half of the infrastructure there is being paid for by the EU. wich will be giving you alot more money then you will be paying it!

But I don't see what all this have to do with Croatia. Obviously EU is making strategic decisions against general will of "Europeans". And you should deal with it internaly. Personally i'd like to see croatia stand on its own 2 feet and not join the EU croatia really does have the potential to go it alone all it needs are the right people to guide her.

I think it just shows the deep mistrust many people in Croatia have of foreigners.
Croatia does have great potential I agree, but let’s be serious, the country needs huge help in administrating the country, the system is outdated.
There also needs to be huge investment in infrastructure, I think in the short term the relationship between Eu and Croatia will only benefit Croatia, in the long term I think the relationship will be beneficial for both sides.
Companies will open factories and offices here, invest in tourism and create jobs and in turn, Croatia will have the finances to invest abroad and import goods, as well as export goods.

Everything you said it true. But at one side, same as "Croatians have mistrust in foregners" (your qote), "foreigners have mistrust in Croatian" (see other replys). It is politicaly imature to blame Croatians for EU's political actions. If they "push" Croatia against their own peoples will (whatever this is, in case EU case), then stop "pushing" and let us "enjoy our mud". As they say - "sand is better in neigborhood". Very simple. Personaly I am getting really bored from this "whip - carrot" game, and I am not alone. |

Englishman i've read some of your other posts and frankly i am not a big fan of what you have been saying, this is the first time that i agree with anything you have said throughout your history on 'visitcroatia'.
As for administration, the best help croatia can get would be for all the wealthy croats who have been living abroad to return home, eg. croats from america, canada, australia etc etc. These sort of business men really would help the country grow.

i am all for croatia turing down the eu.. we croats have not fared very well in any confederations... one must be skeptical...
i too am not a big fan of the englishmans posts... maybe one should concentrate on there buisness.... not muck around and then blame third parties...

hello...
amazing how "a neutral" lives in a world that more or less relies on the usa to control world oil prices...
tell me.. have you ever thought how the industry in your nation would function if opec were allowed a free reign on oil prices... there would more than likely be no industry... or do you believe that out of the goodness of their hearts they would provide oil at reasonable prices...
since the region is known for its compassion...
