its like asking do Americans and Canadians get along.
Again generalisation. Some do some dont.
I dont judge people according to their nationality but according to their charachter.
One would think i dont get along with Brits (if EMIZ is really Brit) if you read my dissagreements with EMIZ but my best friend is a Englishman.
So please stop with generalisation.

he's not english, they write better and are more clever with their sarcasm and wit ;D seriously, I can recount from living in an area where there's lots of settler from Bosnia, and though they claim Croatian ethnicity they are, thankfully in some ways, a million miles away from the locals. They suffer discrimination and awful remarks, a heck of a lot worse than what is reserved for Serbs, but it's just a lot of misconceptions and prejudice.
I have heard it more than a few times from local Croats (who were present before '91) "we wish our serbs would come back". In many ways it's wishful thinking and rose tinted glasses, but it is present.

I live near a croatian neighbourhood they seem to like to poke fun at people from other regions. People from Hercegovina bear the brunt of it though since they seem to be the most successful.
I was at a wedding of a friend of mine once. The groom was from Zagreb and the bride from Dalmatia. They asked some guy to sing a song and he started singing about the sea but was booed off the stage and told to take his "dalmatian" song with him. Just a bit of regional rivalry. Sort of like Canadians and "Newfies" I guess. ;D

that's more like it Star, they view Bosnians, esp from Herzegovina, as country bumpkins and have similiar jokes to those of Newfies.

That's what we call people from Newfoundland. Its a very poor region and as Irac said, they're considered to be simple country bumpkins. Plus many are of Irish decent and retain a peculiar accent which fed into the old prejudices of "british" Canada. However, hercegovians in the diaspora seem to be very successful. I guess thats because they were the poorest region in Yugoslavia and so were the first to emigrate to the west. Also most of the nationalist and extremist elements seem to come from that group.

Almost every single Croatian joke is at the expense of Bosnians, I don't think Croats like any other nation, maybe Germany.
They certainly don't like Serbs, slovenians, English, French.....I could go on!

And we hate you emiz....but then again who doesnt Germany is a great country, and they are a great people, whats there to hate! unlike the English. Jokes are jokes! big deal, i dont know not 1 croatian that dislikes a croatian from bosna, we pay each other out! but just as a joke, as far as i am concerned places like Herzegovina that are Croatian, should join back with rest of Croatia, because they are part of teh rest of us.

Next time you're in Croatia tiprat you should visit the areas weher large numbers of Bosnians moved, they might be of some sort of Croatian ancestry but the local existing Croatian population do not, I can promise you, see them in the best of lights. They're seen as rural cousins who are uncultured and ignorant, which is a shame as eveyone deserves the right to live and be accepted. But it'll just need time to change.

While doing net searches on Medjugorje, I was interested to note that all the "official" websites make it clear that that region considers itself to be Croatian. The history and culture sections all refer to the area as Croatian, and the to the people as Croats. I'm wondering if all the websites, and the majority of residents, for the surrounding region in Bosnia have the same strong Croatian affiliation? www.medjugorje.com/english/povijest.shtml

Maybe if all the tourists, had the same attitude as all the Croatians....there would be no tourists !!!!!!
I'm Scottish and when on holiday I always like to mingle with the locals, learn a bit of the language and have a laugh. From what I am reading on here....I'll be wasting my time, as Croatians hate 'The English' and the fact my language is...English...They'll all automatically think...He's English, we don't like English !!! For me...that attitude stinks....and I find it very hard to believe, all Croatians think that way !!!!

They don't - and as a fellow Scot I would advise you to follow your original plan - it's worked for me for the past 21 years! The funny thing is that the people with whom I am most friendly became friends because, they said, my English was easier to understand than that of people from England!!

It's certainly not true to say that Croats hate the English - but it might be true to say that some people find on these boards find it very easy to sling insults about because it's all, more-or-less, anonymous.

99% of people take people of all different nationalities at face value. If people are rude, we don't like them, if they are polite and have a sense of humour we do....and so it should be. Sure, we Irish 'roll our eyes up to heaven' when 14 fellahs from London land in the pub on a stag weekend, but 20 minutes later and we're all having the craic. The 'rolling eyes' syndrome is part of our culture, and I think all cultures have it, especially with their neighbours, and especially if battles have been won and lost over history....nothing is really meant by it anymore. The Celts (Ireland, Scotland, Wales) all do the same with the English .... The Danes do it to the Swedes, Italians and the Spanish, Croatians and Bosnians, The Swiss do it to the French, The French do it to everyone It's a bit of fun, and quite often an ice breaker. We have the Dubs and the Culchies banter here in Ireland .... Dubs say ... "Culchies come up to Dublin, take our jobs, take our women, get the good jobs, make big money and then move back down the country again and build big houses on their families land" Culchies say " So ? ....and the problem is? " The English (and I'm sure this is not news to you) have the weight of history hanging around their necks from centuries past, it's not personal, it's perception. People take people at face value really nowadays.
