Ljubljana - Pula should be around 2-3 hours by car.
Ljubljana - Zagreb is 2 hours by car (and by train, and the train ticekt is cheap).

Adria used to fly Ljubljana-Split in the summer, as it's a route I used a couple of years ago. It's not in their Winter timetable but they may well do after 27th March. Just had a quick look at EasyJet and it looks like you can get a return inc. Taxes for about £30 Stanstead to Ljubljana, so it's very good value.

Don't forget we fly direct to Croatia from Stansted - Rijeka, Split and Dubrovnik.

Charles Have you considered flying to zadar or coupling zadar with either of your rijeka, split or dubrovnik flights ? Nobody seems to want to fly direct to zadar-are there reasons for this -ie facilities avalable, landing costs or poor perceived market. Seems a shame as it is a beautiful area

The Ljubljan connection is great if you live in the south of England and want to travel to the north of Croatia but not much help for us northerners, (we live in Manchester). We travel to the Zadar region 3/4 times a year and travel is rarely easy to arrange or cheap. Any suggestions that don't involve driving to London would be appreciated Sue

Hi Sue Re"(we live in Manchester). " So do i and it's a pain in the **** getting to London, not to mention the expense of it :-(...What i've done in the past is to catch the early morning flight with Ryanair to Stansted from Blackpool, then use either Skyeurope ( www.skyeurope.com ), Ryanair ( www.ryanair.com ) or Easyjet ( www.easyjet.com ) for my onward conections...Hope this helps you..... David P.S. Skyeurope fly direct to Bratislava from Stansted and to Zadar from Bratislava but you'll most probably have to spend the night in Bratislava to do the whole journey in one day...

Hi Cuz, thanks for the info .it had never occured to us that Blackpool airport would have flights to Stanstead. I haven't checked the schedule yet but Blackpool to Stanstead by Ryanair combined with Air Ardriatica ?(booked thru hidden croatia) who apparantly fly to Split on Monday morning would be a very feasable journey to Zadar as I know there is a bus about every hour which stops at Zadar and even Biograd na Mora which is our actual destination. I have discovered that a charter company jet2.com have good deals from Leeds/Bradford to Venice (Marco Polo), Which is not a bad option if you have the time to do the treiste(train), Riejeka(Bus), Zadar or Split(ferry) route. Sue, you can do Venice to Mali Losinj on the cats in the summer season and then Mali Losinj to Zadar on Jadrolinija if you dont mind an over night in Mali Losinj. We are trying to work on a few other ideas for Zadar area, but at the moment we can not get any of the high speed ferry operators interested in going as far as that from either Italy , or at a sensible time from Rijeka to work in with the Hidden Croatia Flights. There might be some mileage in looking at some of the european airports as hubs to get to Zadar. If one of us gets time we will look into it.

Glad some Northereners have spoken up! You're right - Stanstead is a pain. We fly to Istria 3 times a year from E Mids (very quiet airport) to Venice and it still takes less time than Stantead/Trieste. Now that we have found reliable car hire from Venice into Croatia (hurray for Sixt!), it's a doddle!
