I see that there are now new visa requirements introduced for non-EU visitors from Russia, Turkey and Ukraine as of yesterday. 35 euros seems like quite a lot to pay for a holiday visa. I don't know how much impact this might have on the Croatian tourist industry although I have been aware of more menus in restaurants etc being provided in Russian for the past couple of years.

Just met a really , really nice German , from Duesseldorf + his lovely blondie G'friend , from Muenchen - @ Kingston-upon-Thames Post Office ! So , we had a civilised debate about the merits of EU - funny , how nice Germans can be ( and are ) except in wars !?
Both of them swear in unison that everyone else can starve in the EU , if they are corrupt , incapable thieving lazy imbeciles ( ring any bells ? ) BUT that Germans , far & wide R tired of bankrolling ze Impossible Dream ; so , I bought them capuccinos @ Costa Coffee , never the place that lets one down , for a caffeine shot and a decent piece of juicy Belgo-cake ! So there we have it : GB + Sweden united vs. EU extravaganzas , half of the EU-club bankrupt ( de iure and/or de facto ) , Danes and BeNelux ? Rich + keep Stumm ...some united EUrope , hehehe !?

Does anyone know how different it will be to cross over to BiH and back? Won't Croatia have the EU (albeit non-Schengen) border to take care of? I suspect the existing borders with HUN and SLO will remain and possibly tighten up regarding the movement of people.

Schengen ( Lux. ) is a different contract ; for many years , even SLOvenia were not admitted , what a nuissance this caused on Austrian crossings . I dare to expect that HR-borders w. BiH & Srbija might become quite a hassle ( besides additional costs ) ? It's all only temporary anycase : until Srbija gets admitted too ( Olli Rehn in Brux wants even Moldavija , Ukraine , Makedonija , Kosova ...U name it ! That's his silly Claim 2 Fame . ) Then BiH MUST get resolved , finally : one way or the other , whatever shame EU "parliament" of thieves and Macchiavellist manipulators will chose to publicise , in whichever ultra-positive & optimistic light/s . Cheerz , matez , from EngerLand !

But this is what I like the most, as everything else I am already used to after living in the EU for years.... "customs between member states will be abolished"."Will the borders between Croatia and the neighbouring member states be abolished when Croatia joins the Union?"Checks at common borders with the EU member states will not be abolished automatically on the date of Croatia's accession to the European Union. The customs between member states will be abolished. Border checks will remain until Croatia's accession to the Schengen Agreement. Based on experience of some new members, this could take up to a few years.

<Does anyone know how different it will be to cross over to BiH and back? Won't Croatia have the EU (albeit non-Schengen) border to take care of?>
YES - AIUI that is why Croatians have had to introduce visas for Russians. Although, if Croatia is not in Schengen, this baffles me and seems completely unnecessary.
<I suspect the existing borders with HUN and SLO will remain and possibly tighten up regarding the movement of people.>
Why tighten? HUN and SLO are Schengen countries - the border checks should be serious now.
Although, from my experience, the SLO one is pretty relaxed if you cross normally (i.e. legally) and have an EU registered car.
However, if you wish to take 20 bottles of wine (or any other legally obtained goods) into SLO or HUN, from July you should be free to do so.

Dude , it cost me 150 $US & to wait 6 weeks 4 Azerbeijan visa ; upon landing in that stinking hole , visa in my UK passport , I was REFUSED entry anyway , in Mad Max airport ( sort-of ) ; then they gave me a compulsory "translater" , nice tits !( 50 $ ) and she explained nicely that : 1st I had to employ a local Azerbeijani , to drive me 'round ze bend , in a 29yr old stinking Lada ( 100$/day + expenses ) ; after I 'd done that , my newly acquired , stinking unshaven driver instructed me to slip 100$ into my passport and when this was presented to pass-control filthy Mafiosi , I was granted entry into their messed-up Hell ! Some Tourism ?
