i'm pretty sure Tito shoved it down their throats during his reign(aboout the Ustashe). Soooooo...its not like it was suppressed.
What was suppressed was the Bleiburg Massacres. You couldn't talk about it in YU. So speak with facts not sweeping generalizations. The Ustashe were worse than the Nazis...we know! They also paid for it...they were killed. So what the f**k? It is Churchill who and The US who were sent hundreds of thousands of soldiers back to Tito to have them slaughtered. And the propoganda machine of England sued Leo Tolstoy for his book "the minister and the massacres" and he is now a refugee in Canada. So much for freedom. Look there's no perfect system. Some people on here think the world is black and white. Jesus christ. What system is perfect? What culture doesn't have something to be ashamed of? I'm buying a round of Prozac Shakes for Everyone. Zivjeli and Cheers!!!! MMMmmmmm yummy prozac shake with valium sprinkles on top. Let's all chill out. ;D

Every source of information is biased and every non-fictional book has an objective or it is built around a hypothesis, thus, once again, it is biased... British history books glorify their country (like most history books do) which results in readers having a different knowledge of the same event than other people, who read other books, will have...getting a bit compliacted

empire at school; but even if it was..Brits are not obsessed with history the way Croats are...we fully accept that things were done by our country that were not very nice...you can only be responsible for your own actions; not your countries, Croats should learn to stop talking about history and talk about the future. Hopefully it will make much nicer reading than your History A lot of Croats still hate brits because of Bleiburg; unbelievable and pathetic especially considering what led to that instance.

"Us Brits" do not really exist. There is no secret and unified understanding among us, we don't communicate like some collectivised ant colony, we're no more or no less individuals as are Croats or anyone else. No more "you Brits" generalisations please.
Except for this one...... Generally speaking, Brits don't know where Croatia is, nor does anyone else.
EMIZ has a view about this publication which I share, it's not because we're both from the UK, we just happen to agree on something. I do admit that my upbringing was peppered with stories of the adventures of great British heroes of a bygone era - which I now recognise as a load of crap mostly. London is full of statues of military "leaders", they were just rich and influential people who exaggerated their achievements. It's the same everywhere I've lived and is grossly true in Hollywood's outpourings. Hard to know where to get an unbiased view isn't it?

It is kind of like the Bleiburg marches (Death marches) There are still people today that don't know about this or they don't want to believe that Brits and Americans did this atrocious act! It is trully sad the ignorance that prevails in this day and age! I had just recently read about bleiburg. It was a sad part of history buried in the west. I found this quote interesting though: www.answers.com/topic/bleiburg-massacre

Why are you talking about this? Seriously; I do not understand Croats obsession with history and playing the victim.
Croatia's behaviour in WWII was simply atrocious, why would you want to remind yourselves? How on earth you can consider yourselves the victims after your death camps is beyond me. Typical Croat attitude of; its everybody else’s fault but ours, we were forced; we had no choice; look what everybody else did to us.
You know that 90% of people in the uk and usa are probably not even aware of the ustashe; because we live for the now. I think it is pathetic how you look back at this; almost as if you're looking for answers, I have found from this site that the people most obsessed with lying about Croatia history are the Croats who have never actually lived in Croatia; the people whose grandfathers are Croatian....all I can say is they must feed you some crap.

I must agree with Emiz on this one... I was bought up in a predominantly Ustasa household. My late father was an Ustasa and my Uncles. Heck one of them was even in the Crna Legija.
An important lesson my late father told me was ..."He who wins the war gets to write the history"
Moving forward therefore the best we as Croats can do is remember those who perished in Blieburg ...and yes make a big deal whenever we can.... just as the Jews do with Auschwitz...... em !!

Why are you talking about this? Seriously; I do not understand Croats obsession with history and playing the victim. Well, I study eastern european history so I find it interesting. Bleiburg is particularly interesting because the British and Americans still refuse to talk about it. That suggests to me there some nasty bits of info still hidden in archives which they find embarassing. Croats are not looking to distort the facts, they're just looking for the truth. The Slovenes have helped them a little in that respect. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

I was obviously right stating that you know very well why are you living in Australia... So, just one more thing - may God help you one day.

Although having protected you in my first post here, I must say that you often generalize in the same way your oponents here do. I would say the only thing SOME Croats are "obsessed" with is clearing the recent war. Just replace the word "Croats" with "people who have similar fate like gs" and it will be ok. I must also admit they are very good at embarrassing Croatia all over the world if they made you believe what you believe.

To me it's a pointless and irrelevant discussion. Take it just as an opinion. Please read his last post and read it to the end and then come back again. Do you think it's an acceptable post? Well I didn't.
