just to change the subject from "has anyone got Termites?" could someone please tell me if estate agents need to have qualifications in croatia. Seemingly they are not part of the legal process but do they need to do anything in order to operate as an agent. I understand the need to register a company etc. and I understand that some people see them as sharks etc. but I am told that you can't even be a waiter in croatia without attending an appropriate course or school. Who can solve my riddle.................?

You need no qualifications whatsoever to do this job. I just think you need to be SSS/VSS. And one can be a waiter without having finished the school for it, but there's probably a catch regarding his status (it's only part-time work if you're not qualified). estate agents in australia arent that qualified either. ive seen job posts over the net , in australia , where they are looking for estate agents in prestigious realestate agencies and they arent look for any qaulifications in particular. just someone whos naturally talented, excelent communicator. unfortunately in croatia you need a diploma for everything, including respect. and as can bee seen by the presidents and other politicians in croatia who are aaaaaallllllllll doctors or professors...a diploma in croatia does not mean that theyknow what they are doing or that they are good for the job. estate agents in croatia should start putting up for sale signs in front of property that they are selling. making an effort. a real effort. some agents can go a month without earning anything , and then they can make a heap of money in one transaction. thats all they are interested in. making a killing.

Hi, I thought an incident over the weekend tied in nicely with this thread. My point is that apparently the only qualification you need is the ability to copy and paste! I came accross a company called Croatian Properties Direct-who in their FAQ section-Problems and Solutions. had pasted in 11 pages of my copy direct from my website onto a pdf. www.croatianpropertiesdirect.com/Problems_and_solutions.pdfWhilst always flattered by imitation this was pushing the envelope a tad. I could not find out from the site whether they are registered nekretnine on the website or any details of who ran the company. The phone just rang on the Croatian number and on the UK number I eventually got through to a Mr Thompson, who said that a group of Croatian estate agents had all bought in to the site and they ran it as a management company, and they just paste the information that the agents send, without analysing it. I just wanted more info so I don't get stung by the owner in Croatia. I'm sure the agent from the uk would like more specific infomation as well as everyone else reading your posts.
