There is a long history of events etc, which made many Croats not to like the English.
Here is the latest example (as read in the Croatian newspapers): Milan Spanovic, the war criminal, recently arrested by fluke in London, was given asylum in England 4 years ago, plus free apartement, social security money etc), inspite of being on the Interpol list of wanted criminals. He would most likely be still free, if not for a "stupid" local policeman, who dared to check the Interpol list.
Can anyone explain, why the UK INterior Ministry, ignored that list and granted asylim to Spanovic?

who labelled the policeman as stupid? Did you just say that to fit your story?
Let's try a different question: who DO the Croats like?

It seems to me that everyone arriving in England seeking asylum gets a free apartment, social security etc, no matter from where they come. I don't suppose anyone knew that Spanovic was a wanted criminal. Maybe they should known have but beaurocracy being what it is, bits of paper etc... This isn't reserved just for interpol ascapees, there are too many cases where known child sex offenders still get jobs in schools etc. It's just bad administration, something every country seems to have. No reason the hate the English, they are the same as everyone else.
I note that asylum seekers rarely ask to stay in Scotland, is it that freedom is not so valuable if they have to live in a relatively colder climate? There's a lot of space in Iceland.

I went to England in July, am disabled and I am English. But I got neither benefits nor a free flat, as I have lived in Croatia for the past 6 years. So you are 100% wrong.

Sasha perhaps you could re-read the first post? Someone decided to create a string called "Why many Croats do not like the English". He posted it on an english language forum, used by various groups of people including a reasonable sized propertion who are British and are in some way connected with Croatia. Was he trying to be insulting or did he just not care?
It seems to me, that there is quite a lot of abusive comments made about non-Croats on this forum. A sort of "why do you want anything to do with my country and god your country must be awful" theme. Is that ok do you think?

The title is a bit provocative but I can understand why some Croats would be quite upset that known Serbian war criminals were allowed to seek asylum in the UK. Croat government asks to check my criminal record for me to live in Croatia. Why can't the Uk check Interpol for people coming from suspect regions ?
Who like the English ? I like some English people but over all I'm not a big fan. Who do the Croats like ? They seem to like Australians. Who do the English like ? Um, people from Lichtenstein?

ok.. to declare my hand I am not English, I am Scottish. However I've got over trying to make the distinction in Croatia as most people same to think its the same thing. So as a non-English person, I can say the english seem to : like Australians, kiwis, canadians, Asians and some Northern European countries (gerenally those who don't drain the UK economy), Poles and Slovaks (hard workers) dislike: French, Scots, Irish, Welsh Indifferent to: entire eastern europe apart from Poland and Slovakia, most of africa, most of southern europe (think Italian men are sexy).
Now Croats: Dislike: Serbs (enemy no. 1), Bosnians, Montenegrins, Slovenes, English, Italians, Americans, French, anyone who comes to their country Like: Austrians (or do they just admire Vienna?), Neutral: Any nation which is too far away to have any impact on them. Not sure where they stand on Germany.

I just heard that a UK TV channel (not the BBC, Channel 5?) had a 10 minutes on global warming, and it well known that that airlines are big culprits. The segment on airlines, was illustrated with a Croatia Airlines jet landing at Heatrow Airport.
Not British Airways (must have hundreds of landings!), not American airlines, not Lufthansa, not Serbian airline, but poor Croatia again, with one daily flight to Heathrow. What is going on, why Croatia is always being picked on? Shame on you!

Poles and Slovaks (hard workers) Obviously you've been away from England quite a while. The public perception of Poles is changing fast. After it has transpired that "only" 600 000 Poles have invaded England since joining the EU, many of whom are claiming benefits for the children they've left back home in Poland, and generally seeing the UK as the milking cow, UK citizens are not warming up to Poles any more. They might be hard working, but they are also making things difficult for the native UK workers, as they are consistently lowering the wage treshold. Majority of Poles have racist views towards black UK population, the issue which has already been discussed on BBC, before anyone jumps down my throat on this one. The area of London I'm living in is absolutely swamped with Poles. They litter the roads and usually get drunk at the weekends, keeping the whole neighbourhood awake. I assure you they are not liked much in this part of Britain.
