When I say that privatisation was just cover for robbery, and LOWS WAS BREAKED, I am called sot or stone head Croatian. I don't understand your points. What do you think where all this corruption came from ? That same criminal privatisation.
Lion, lion and you too Lion ... Privatisation was and is necessery for Croatian economy. But one made in wartime was CRIMINAL. Revision established in Croatian parlament claims this. And because it was criminal act made by polititians and "selected capitalists" which had privileges - it created corruption as natural process.
Of course, many Eu companies bought this same "privatised comapnies" (this was goal - get credit from "goverment owned" bank, buy something for small money, send worker on streets, and after it collapse - sell it to foreigners on double price at least,).
So, I don't see why me claiming that this is "basic problem" related to every "backward" process in Croatia, including corruption, makes me stone head or sot.
I think you just select your oppinion on prejudices without relevant informations.
It is said fact, especialy if you really think what you claim (it doesn't count non of you - Lions) that you wish - best for Croatia.
Or again I should start looking for problem under my bed. Or it is just aceptable to yell "corruption, corruption", but after I mention what was it's source and natural generator - I should shut up, because I am sot attacking someones "good business".
I find it said.

Croatia's problem is in its self destructing attitude. It can talk the talk but can't walk the walk. It worked in the beginning until the EU worked it out. They made the mistake of thinking they could treat the EU as they do the Croatian population and just feed them with what they wanted to hear. Eventually, without any concrete results, we have lost out, and what's worse, gone is our credibility.

You're only problem is you refuse to accept that any problems started in Croatia; you were the same on nationalism and now you are the same on Corruption.
Look; people were killing 10,00000 years ago in Africa, it doesn't mean they are responsible for teaching Croats how to kill.
Croatia has made its own problems, and the quicker you and your 4 million comrades accept that, the quicker you can solve the problems.
I am not sure what point you are trying to make regarding the illegal activity; I presume you are referring to Ali baba otherwise known as Tudjman.

Yeh, I think it's going to take a few months for the consequences of this refusal to take hold, and for people to understand exactly what it means.
It maybe that it gives the Croatian authorities a bloody nose, and may clear away any illusions that 'the tail can wag the dog'..... It maybe that this is a game of poker, and the EU will go back to the accession table quite quickly, should Gotovina be apprehended, and the Croatian bluff has been called......I hope that is the case.
Regardless of what certain Croatians think at present regarding the situation, as emotions are running high, the international community and the multi-national investors are certainly going to take a negative view on the situation.....and in the cold light of day i.e In 6 months time or so, things will become alot clearer, and I don't think it's going to be a pretty picture either.
Sure Istria and Dalmatia will keep bringing in the tourists during the season, but I fear that today was a very bad day for Croatia.....very bad.

Having considered by treasonous post could probably land me 10 years in prison and that this lovely bottle of vino may not be accepted as mitigating circumstances; I would like to give a heartfelt plea to the Croatian government.
Foxtrot Oscar!!

The biggest problem with everyone here is that they accept everything thats thrown at them as just being normal life here, but don't have the guts to rise up against it and actually do something about it. What's more, they are easily fooled by the politicians and the media.

What's more, they are easily fooled by the politicians and the media. Sounds like a familiar quote from Ireland in the 1960's and 1970's when the Church and the politicians were completely in control of the country, the Drug Dealers, Tax Evaders and corrupt planners in the 1980's and 1990's and god help anyone who stood up to them. Then along came Veronica Guerin (a heroic journalist who paid for her honesty and courage with her life in 1995) and the people on the street started asking questions, we became an educated society (instead of 'thick paddy'), we qualified for Italia 1990 and a new country was born, one that asked questions and we were not willing to accept the same old horses.h.i.t.e that had been rolled out or 40 years. The change is going to have to come rom the grassroots level ... from the people not the politicians

very correct....no Veronica Guerins in Croatia yet. Its hard to break that old mentality. You can't treat an Old Dog (Guest) new tricks. I think that the analogy with Ireland in the 60's and 70's is a very apt one here.
I see Old Guest that your trying to add something to what you originally said. Still doesn't add up though does it. The trouble with Croatians is that they have to do everything to excess. I would suggest that if you've been trapped in Communism for so long that any form of Privatisation is a good thing.

Is someones brain trapped in personal idiotism (present) or in comunism (past) ... it really doesn't metter. But arogance level is unbelieveble on your side. Fact is that your brain is captured in past more then mine, and as I see - it is not hard to proveke pure hate to start comeing out. Personaly, I really don't care, and I would never share my honnest oppion or relevant informations with you here, anyway. It is good to see how you react on prejudices with - prejudices. I believe Croatians should see (and this forum is good example) how good and "friendly" you are, how completely unable to generalize them you are ... how attitude towards them you have is still based on "cold war" prejudices, and how able to develop this same prejudices more and more in every negative way you are. Just because you believe that you own copyright on civilisation and democracy - but beyond all this empthy phrases, general hate and prejudices, I can see only - only arogance. No hard feelings, but with you on "other side"- Croatian's can hardly winn contest in idiotism and general ignorance. You will need to push more harder.
