As the man says....The fat lady has sung www.eubusiness.com/afp/050308115923.ayouj84mThe quote ....."At this stage we are not changing our position. It was always very clear. Full cooperation (with the ICTY) was needed. This is the position the commission will have at the" EU foreign ministers' meeting" is final, almost past tense. What a shame.

It is sad; but as usual they want big rewards for little effort. Croatia doesn't deserve to be in the EU at present, I hope for Croatia's sake, people now realise that big changes are needed, not only in attitdues but also in action.

EU currently doesn't deserve to have Croatia as its member, the Croats now realise the nonsense of its membership conditions.... Super!

Now is time to stop playing the big balkans macho role and do what you need to do to get in the eu.
Guess what to do anything in life, you have to do things you don't want to.

Every organization has some corruption in it, that's just human nature. But if Croatia does not join the EU then they will be sitting ducks for some other maniacal despot like Milosevic.
I know alot of people from Hercegovina and Bosnia don't want Croatia to join because they're afraid they'll be cut off forever from Croatia. That's a legitimate concern but right now Croatia is a small country with no protection. If someone starts causing trouble again I doubt anyone will come to help. At least in the EU they will have financial and political protection.
I don't believe Gotovina is any more a war criminal than Generals Montgomery and Patton were in WW2, but for the good of the country he should have given himself up. Who knows, maybe he would have even cleared his name.

Guess what to do anything in life, you have to do things you don't want to. Why are you so emotional ? We won't enter EU - so what ? Earth will keep turning around anyway. Not everybody is supposed to be your friend after you punch him in the face ("with best intentions and good arguments"), anyway. Only relevant question is - have you punched enough hard to get yourself - enemy. Or you punched with right meassure to - wake him up. But who am I to predict things ... time will tell.

People devoid of emotions are people who are too apathetical to induce change.
I do everything at a high tempo, this is not a small deal and it should not be treated as such; the governmental bigwigs are marking money from corruption, thus despite their public protestations, they are happy for the status quo to remain.
Croatia needs the EU, and it needs it fast.

EU negotiated with this same corrupted polititians so far ... was showing them "carrot" for years ("progress here", "progress there", "good example" blah blah blah) and then left them just infront entrance ... Mistake is that EU choosed to punch rest of us in face instead of "their progressive friends" - corrupted polititians. So far we must deal with corrupted polititians, and we will choose how (EU will not save their as*es as they was hopping), but we don't need to deal with their best alie in robbery - EU. Like it or not ... .

Your problem is; you're looking for the route of the problem outside of Croatia. You need to look closer to home.

You stated that the carrot was presented, but then the EU punched the rest of you, i.e. the people of Croatia.
The Eu made its position very clear, but there is something about Croatians, they think everybody should play ball except them.
If my employees don't do what I ask them, they are fired, this happened once, it hasn't happen since.
Croatia could easily find Gotovina and they chose not to, why even go for the talks? Do they think the EU will say, ok..well we said you have to find Gotovina, but as you didn't it doesn't matter?

Do they think the EU will say, ok..well we said you have to find Gotovina, but as you didn't it doesn't matter? You are complicating. EU is not my employee, and I don't care about its oppinion or intentions. I wish EU all the best, but I must deal with corrupted polititians and "privatisation" crimes "on my side of the fence". And fact is that they was same corrupted while they was recognized as "progressive" by EU, and was selling stolen stuff around ... Corrupted polititians needed EU to save their "as*es" with more money )from which I will not see anything anyway). So now (thanks to new "circumstances") there will be only "us and them". Privatisation MUST be criminalised, and I don't care who will "loose money"because of it, or will somebody "hang" or just return money. Gotovina is under jurisdiction of UN's court, and what EU thinks about it worries me as last years snow. Anway, we don't expect EU to say anything at all, as we never did.

If you are saying "Privatisation must be criminalised" then you are living in the 1930's, even China is allowing privatisation on a grand scale. Croatia does not want to seem to solve its problems. Croatia is going backwards by the day, because other countries are going forwards. Are you from North Korea?
